At JRF, we believe in investing in our communities and launching a comprehensive development approach in order to strengthen the socio-economic fabric of our local communities. Through this approach, we seek to:
- empower local communities through mobilizing the community to identify challenges and resources.
- build the capacity of community members and CBOs.
- establish income-generating projects and infrastructure.
- support projects that are owned by the local community.
- improve accessibility and the quality of basic services provided to the local community.
- provide access to finance.
We believe that it is of the utmost importance to support Jordan’s local communities to overcome macro-challenges such as unemployment, poverty, and a lack of economic opportunities. Currently, the unemployment rate stands at 12.5%, and the national poverty rate at 13.3%1. To date, JRF has established 104 income-generating projects and supported local communities with 173 physical and institutional infrastructure-support projects to tackle some of these critical issues.
JRF is present in all 12 governorates of Jordan, but our reach is not all-inclusive. JRF is working hard to ensure that human and capital resources are increased, in order to expand the implementation of projects into new communities in a way which is both financially and operationally sustainable.
