This project, which is funded by AECID and implemented by JRF in cooperation with RESCATE, includes the following:
- An income-generating pickles plant project, implemented in partnership with Al-Alouk and Al-Masarat Charitable Society.
- Capacity building and awareness raising training for the targeted CBO and women in the area.
- A children’s playground in the vicinity of the Project, with a focus on supporting women involved.
JRF signed an agreement with AECID on June 28, 2010 to execute this project, and the first step in implementation was the selection of local partners - Al-Alouk and Al-Masarat Charitable Society.
All required licenses to initiate the Project were obtained, as was the equipment needed to begin operations.
Capacity building and awareness raising sessions for the Project were also conducted in its nascent stages, with a total number of 1283 participants taking part in these training sessions. Training activities ranged from technical training on pickles production, to financial and management training for the target society and women in the area. With regards to awareness raising training sessions, these focused mainly on organic farming, women and child rights and the safe use of medicines.
