Women are an under-tapped resource in our local communities, and as a consequence, this means that half of the economic and social potential of a community is being underutilized and underdeveloped. Through its work, JRF has identified this discrepancy, and is consequently committed to including women in civic and economic development initiatives.
We work towards creating economic opportunities for women, in order to capitalize on their potential as additional breadwinners within their families. Tradition has delegated the role of women to be within the home, and as such, providing opportunities for women in Jordan comes with its own set of challenges. On the other hand, there has been an immense interest by women to participate in various social empowerment programs and activities, which highlights their eagerness to learn, participate and develop, particularly in economic terms. Through its focus on both social and economic empowerment, JRF creates projects for women that connect both components to ensure a more holistic development approach.
