Al-Jafer Ostrich Farm Project
With funding from MoPIC, Bushra, a local cooperative,
established an ostrich farm for the benefit of the remote
village of Al-Jafer in the Ma’an Governorate. In this
project . JRF’s role was to support and provide
capacity building to the Cooperative and serve as the
project supervisor. JRF supported this project by
strengthening tendering and procurement procedures and
developed agreements with local consultants.
Ostriches are bred for their prized feathers, meat, leather
and eggs Participatory Sustainable Water Management at the
Farm Level – MEDA Cooperation with Jordan and Palestine This
three-year regional project is in partnership with Hilfswerk
Austria, Fundacion Promocion Social de la Cultura,
Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees, the Jordanian
Hashemite Fund for Human Development and JRF.
JRF will implement this project in the Jordan Valley area,
which will include comprehensive training programs and will
introduce new techniques and methods of water treatment,
reuse and management.
The project will establish waste-water treatment and reuse
units and introduce brackish and household water treatment
methods. Water cisterns will be constructed and renovated
and permaculture home gardens will also be established.
