Jordan River Foundation volunteering program began with a
small group of women assisting with the display of the
annual exhibitions to support the local communities and
market its handicrafts.
This group of women is Friends of JRF who give their
continuous support through organizing social activities to
raise funds for the less privileged areas in Jordan
Over the years, their "Back to School" and "Eid Al Adha"
activities have evolved from mere handout campaigns to
projects that emphasize community involvement and ownership.
The volunteers' activities and achievements are varied. Each
summer, they choose, in coordination with the Ministry of
Education, a run-down public school that they renovate and
refurbish, with the active participation of both teachers
and students. One year, the pediatric section of a
government hospital in a rural area got a new joyful
playroom just in time for the Eid Al-Adha festivities.
The volunteers regularly conduct educational lectures and
workshops in addition to the annual Ramadan fundraising
dinner. All their efforts aim to achieve one goal: to
support the Jordan River Foundation and its mission toward
social and economic development within Jordan.
