ACC, WFP, JRF Review Progress of CLIMATE Project, Role in Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture
Under the patronage of the Director General of the Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC), Eng. Mohammad Al-Doujan, a ceremony was held at the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) premises, in the presence of the Head of Programmes at the World Food Programme (WFP), Ms. Nona Worring, and the Director General of JRF, Ms. Enaam Barrishi. The event brought together partners for a technical meeting dedicated to reviewing the progress and achievements of the Credit and Loans Initiative for Agricultural Technology Enhancement (C.L.I.M.A.T.E.) Project.
During the meeting, Eng. Al-Doujan emphasized the importance of partnerships and their role in providing interest-free agricultural loans to promote the adoption of modern, climate-adaptive agricultural practices. He noted that such efforts contribute to empowering farmers, enhancing agricultural productivity, and ensuring sustainability in line with recognized environmental and social standards.
For their part, Ms. Worring and Ms. Barrishi presented the progress achieved under the project and highlighted the strong collaboration between partners in delivering climate-smart agricultural interventions. They stressed the importance of continued coordination to ensure effective outreach and access to finance for targeted beneficiaries across all governorates.
The meeting featured a comprehensive presentation on project achievements, including the findings of the Training Needs Assessment (TNA), as well as a discussion of key challenges and lessons learned from field implementation. In addition, technical working sessions were conducted to further develop innovative financing solutions tailored to agri-food SMEs, cooperatives, and community-based institutions, aiming to strengthen value chains and maximize economic impact.
At the conclusion of the meeting, partners agreed on the next phase action plan, reaffirming their commitment to delivering integrated financial and technical services that support the agricultural sector and contribute to enhancing food security and climate resilience in Jordan.
