Jordan River Foundation (JRF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 1995 with a focus on child safety and community empowerment. It has been a major player in Jordan’s social and economic development, bringing forth over 20 years of experience to local community empowerment and child safety. JRF has also been supporting homegrown solutions that engage Jordanians and help them address local challenges. Most importantly, JRF places the wellbeing of children at the center of its development initiatives.
Established in 2006, Al Karma Kitchen is an extension of Al Karma Center operation in Jabal Al Natheef east of Amman. The kitchen offers a wide variety of freshly cooked foods, prepared by the women of Al Karma Center, including traditional Arabic sweets and spicy macaroons. The kitchen hires highly skilled Jordanian female chefs and provides unique economic opportunities to the community women of Al Natheef area. Building on the kitchen’s success, JRF is planning to offer catering services for events and special occasions, which in turn will increase employment opportunities for women in Jabal Al Natheef. JRF has recently replicated the kitchen’s model in Jabal Al Nasr east of Amman, operating under the Queen Rania Family and Child Center (QRFCC).
