JRF Concludes “She Leads”, Honors Youth Volunteers, Community Leaders

The Jordan River Foundation’s Queen Rania Family and Child Center (QRFCC) held a closing ceremony on Tuesday, September 23rd, honoring 47 youth volunteers for their role in implementing community initiatives under the "She Leads" project. The project was funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by a consortium in partnership with Plan International, the Jordanian Women's Union, and Terre Des hommes (TDH).
Over its five-year duration, "She Leads" empowered 5,426 adolescent girls and young women across Jordan, relying on community influencers and youth, including 60 female religious leaders and university students, to help promote gender equality, raise awareness on gender-based violence prevention and women's rights. Prevention activities included training camps designed to help youth implement community-based initiatives in line with the project's objectives, in addition to advocacy through the arts; delivering creative messages featured in expressive arts programs and exhibitions.
Youth-led initiatives addressed a variety of critical social issues. These included “Fasel Aman” focusing on personal boundaries, “Lissa Nawara” addressing early marriage, and “La'ennaha” tackling domestic violence. Furthermore, the “Minkun Wa Feekun” initiative focused on economic empowerment through peer leadership. Youth volunteers also launched a website featuring entrepreneurial projects for local women and a podcast documenting inspiring success stories of women from across the Kingdom.
JRF has successfully concluded the five-year project, contributing to foundation’s Child Safety Program objectives to promote child protection, and enhance positive child rearing practices by addressing the family as a whole unit.
